Hailing from a small village in Jayanagar, Bihar, India, Rajeev Kumar studied German Language and Literature at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, where he was awarded a scholarship to study in Germany in 2013. After completing his studies, he began working in multinational corporations. However, he recalls a turning point in his life when he worked as a project manager for renowned book publishing companies, such as Westermann, Springer, and DeRuyter, in Pondicherry. It was there that he developed the concept of Umran and founded the Umran Green Perspective Foundation. Initially, he developed this idea to assist his local community, but the organization’s impact quickly expanded globally through digital platforms.
Under Rajeev Kumar’s leadership, UGPF has implemented diverse initiatives focused on sustainable development, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation. UGPF has also been active in promoting digital platforms to enhance transparency and efficiency in governance. The organization leverages technology to enable better access to information, facilitate communication, and promote digital literacy among rural populations.
The organization conducts research on sustainable consciousness and technologies, sharing knowledge through workshops, seminars, and other events. UGPF partners with other organizations and stakeholders to advocate for sustainable policies and practices at the local, regional, and national levels.
In recent years, Umran has drawn an increasing number of women to its programs and initiatives, becoming one of the fastest-growing organizations in world based on volunteers. The Umran Language program offers over 10 courses with certificates in French, German, English, Hindi, Turkish, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and Persian, which have been especially successful in attracting women from diverse backgrounds and empowering them through language and communication skills. The Umran Academic Research Association has also been instrumental in promoting research and scholarship on issues related to women’s rights, environmental sustainability, and rural development.
With more than 3000 students from over 42 countries enrolled in its Language Academy, and a team of more than 500 teachers, 200 volunteers, 18 team members, 10 interns, 7 renowned professors, and 15 research students from several countries in three years, UGPF is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing organizations globally.
Rajeev Kumar is a visionary with a full optimism. He believes that everyone wants to do good in their lives but needs the right platform to realize and visualize their potential.
